Types
When choosing a wrench set, you’ll find there is a variety to select from. There are deep well sockets, standard socket sets, and metric socket sets. Deep well socket sets are longer than the short standard sockets. The deep well sockets are used for the same things as the smaller ones, but they also add length if the extension does not allow you to reach deep enough. The metric set is used for imported vehicles and some household items that are made with metric head bolts. The metric sockets are measured as 5mm rather than the standard set that is measured in inches. The shape of the metric bolts is different from that of a standard bolt. You cannot use a metric socket on a standard bolt head nor can you use a standard socket on a metric bolt head. It is always important to may sure what type of socket you are using on what type of bolt head or damage can occur.
